For as long as he'd known her, there was one thing that Rowen noticed about Samantha that he had noticed was a constant thing with her: She always wore ribbons.
Now normally she would wear her long raven black hair in a single braid that fell over her shoulder. Once in awhile she'd wear it in just a regular ponytail, but ninety-nine percent of the time, she'd wear it in the braid. One hundred percent of the time however, she'd have her locks tied back out of her face with a ribbon.
The ribbons would vary in color, red, green, black, pink, purple, any color really.
According to her mother, Samantha had always liked ribbons and had worn them in her hair since it was long enough to do so. Heck sometimes he'd see the family cat, Turnip, walking around with a ribbon tied around his neck. Everytime he did, the red head would smile to himself, knowing that Sammy had done that to him.
He pushed aside the heavy wooden doors of the stable, a bag of horse feed slung onto his back. He looked up, seeing an all to familiar sixteen year old at one of the stables.
Said girl looked up, emerald green eyes meeting spring green. "Oh hey Rowen."
"What are you doing?"
Samantha giggled and stepped aside, revealing to the stable boy that she had braided the horses mane, tying it off with a tiny blue ribbon. "Just making Blaze pretty."
Blaze snorted, an expression of annoyance obvious on his face.
Rowen blinked and then shook his head, smiling. "Your weird Sammy."
"Oh hush." Samantha shot back sticking her tongue out at the seventeen year old.
"Samantha? Where are you?"
"Coming Daddy!" Samantha called running to the stable doors. "I'll see you later Rowen."
"Bye." he said watching as the girl ran past him, her braid flying behind her. Rowen smirked and hoisted up the sack once more and walked into the stable to begin his job of taking care of the horses.
"Hey fella." he said, petting Blaze's snout. He pulled out the brush and began to brush the stallion's fur. Rowen smiled slightly seeing the ribbon tied into the horses mane. His thought's drifted back to Samantha.
Her and her ribbons.
